Empty Bowls
The arts can be a powerful to in uplifting people. It helps us heal, connect, and serve.
In February both sculpture classes will host the 5th annual Empty Bowls Event at our school. Proceeds will go to the Cook and Ore Food Shelf. This year with celebrate our 5th year anniversary!
As a group we will create over 300 ceramic bowls. (6 per person)
Duties for the Event include…
•Silent Auction Oversee
•Welcome Hosts/Roaming Problem Solvers
•Bread, Butter, and Dessert
•Money Takers
•Soup Servers
•Wrapping Bowls
•Set up/Clean up
•Garbage
I need roughly 10-15 student volunteers to oversee Empty Bowls night. This is a very good resume booster your all of you! I will also have a head student volunteer to help with advising, silent auction, and overall over-site.

Step 1: Each sculpture II student will make 8 well crafted bowls
~We will use high fire
stoneware clay
~Each bowl should have
a foot and a rim
~Each bowl should
be level and well crafted
~NOTE: If bowl is lopsided, uneven, lumpy or too heavy, you will have to redo the bowl entirely. TAKE TIME TO MAKE each both with high perfection. We will only be able to sell highly crafted bowls.
~Make ONE item for the silent auction (example: vase, tea set, salad bowl set, fruit tray)

It should 1 class period to make 2 bowls.
If you complete your 6 bowls early, you can make a ceramic piece that will be put into the silent auction. These items will be sold for more money (which means the work should be very HIGH QUALITY) What you make for the silent auction is up to you.

Your Goal: Help lead the team especially with volunteering. Create 6 bowls as well along with at least 1 ceramic artwork for the silent auction.
If you complete your 6 bowls early, you can make a ceramic piece that will be put into the silent auction. These items will be sold for more money (which means the work should be very HIGH QUALITY) What you make for the silent auction is up to you.

~We will use plaster molds to help make the bowls.
