A tessellation of a flat surface is the tiling of a plane using one or more geometric shapes, called tiles, with no overlaps and no gaps. In mathematics tessellations can be generalized to higher dimensions.
Dreaming is the experience of envisioned images, sounds, or other sensations during sleep. Dreams alter our minds in a similar way, the images in our mind create an illusion. Think: How have your dreams fooled images in your mind?

Into the real world
The principles of design are used to fool your peers/audience. It creates a trick, making the audience believe something when in fact, doesn't exist. This process is what our brains go through all day long because we are constantly using our vision (even in our dreams!). Without even know it, our eyes see and use the principles of design. Knowing how to fool the eyes will make you more aware of how to spot the illusions in the natural real world. Take a look at these photos. Which principles of design are you using?
